UPDATE: Police Attack Water Protectors With Water Cannons In Sub-Freezing Temps & More!

On Sunday water protectors in North Dakota were attacked by police with water cannons, concussion grenades, rubber bullets and more. Water cannons in sub-freezing temperatures far from warmth and shelter can be very dangerous. These actions were taken because water protectors tried to move two damaged military trucks out of the way.

As you may already know, the corporation putting in the Dakota Access Pipeline is continuing their construction despite massive protests and the refusal of the Army Corps of Engineers to give them permission to drill beneath the Missouri River. The Army Corps put out a statement a week ago calling for more “discussion.” They also said, “While these discussions are ongoing, construction on or under Corps land bordering Lake Oahe cannot occur because the Army has not made a final decision on whether to grant an easement. The Army will work with the Tribe on a timeline that allows for robust discussion and analysis to be completed expeditiously. We fully support the rights of all Americans to assemble and speak freely, and urge everyone involved in protest or pipeline activities to adhere to the principles of nonviolence.”

Despite this, Energy Transfer seems to be continuing on-pace to drill underneath the lake. The mainstream media has largely ignored this story, but we at Redacted Tonight have covered it extensively.
