Only Paul Jay at theanalysis.news has the huevos to point out repeatedly (maybe because he’s Canadian?) that the Sargent of Arms answers to Mitch McConnell, so it’s inconceivable that McConnell didn’t have a hand in the understaffing of capitol police that day. Jay suggests that the establishment R’s got what they wanted out if Trump but he’s too problematic to keep around or to run for president again. Look who profits from all of this, besides the deep state always hated Trump. I think Trump walked into a trap and the establishment of both parties have benefitted from the fallout.
